In fact, it is one of the MB owner's manual's checks. The higher the revs, the greater the power.Fuel Efficiency: The OM617 isn't a particularly efficient engine, it requires ~20% more fuel and air to produce power than a turbocharged direct injection engine. I've had a lot of vehicles, but my favorites have been my '88 Ranger with a 2.9L V6 and my '84 Mercedes 300SD 3.0L 5-cylinder turbo diesel. My Mercedes is my daily driver, and the engine has 337K miles on it and the engine hasn't been rebuilt. I get 29 MPG, too.

So, I bought a Jeep Wrangler and started my build. Later, I realized it seemed nobody had any hard evidence supporting their claims.So after some minor research it appears the OM617 produces at least 40 more ft/lbs of torque and at least 30 more horse power than the Jeep 2.5l. It also produces this torque at a much lower rpm than the 2.5. All the while more than doubling the fuel economy of the vehicle.To max out the stock set up you might want to hook up a Pressure Gauge to your Intake Manifold and see how much boost your Turbo is giving. I believe the max stock boost is 12 psi. After that is adjusting the ALDA. The ALDA limits the max available Fuel when there is no boost pressure from the Turbo.
