Not sure if it's Epic or Heroic related. If your still trying to make this work, make sure that steam runtime is disabled. I installed today GTA v by Heroic. It works on desktop mode, but in gaming mode I think the link is broken because nothing happens and steam come back to the library.
I'm thinking of modding GTAV on my PC to my liking, and then copying the changes over to the deck using various methods. Most likely Dropbox. The one thing I don't understand is the decrypting that OpenIV does. Do I need to actually run OpenIV on the deck? The major problem I had is the Steam Deck running out of RAM and completely crashing. The game starts at about 10GB of RAM used (thats combining SteamOS, Epic and Rockstar Launchers and the game) and slowly creeps when hits 14.2GB of main memory and completely lock and eventually reboot the deck.
On PC it can run on much lesser spec hardware than a Steam Deck. You don't need a high end gaming PC to run it.
