Most of the time you fight against low tier AI army, it's easy to make money and you fast on the map. It's either max khans guard, or combo of fians and legionary for me. The khans are best at open field, but a well placed slope defense with the foot army can just wipe the floor with anyone. It's more finicky, but it's also better for sieges as khans guards don't carry shields.
