Simply try the ideal starting procedure (<5 seconds crank), pull a spark plug and check for fuel. If the plug is wet then you have fuel but either no spark or no compression. Yes the pump can be intermittent when it is dying. Have you tried battery reset to see if taking all of the systems back to zero helps? Disconnect negative cable, depress brake pedal 30 seconds, then reconnect and see what happens.

Some of the behavior suggests a battery problem and I note you replaced the battery and the engine started and ran a bit but then died. In this case then this sort of (maybe) eliminates the crankshaft position sensor but leaves a flaky/intermittent fuel pump as a possible explanation. If possible you want to when you go to start the engine try to confirm the fuel pump is running. If you go to start the engine and do not hear the pump running then that tells you something. Share.
