A guy over at gearslutz posted clips of 609 black,silver,409 & 906 - distorted guitar A chord. black is darkest. silver is brightest. 409 has mega mids. 906 (flat) is sort of middle of silver and black, and sounds closest to the 409. I have 2 609 blacks, and a 906 is next on my hit list. The graph suggests that the e606, especially when used for close-miking (such as laying its face against a speaker cab), would produce a much more scooped sound than the newer e906. Can sound a bit brash on overdriven tones. -The SM57 is more congested, more colored.
