Once the frame is close to the disassembly mark. , turn the gun right side up and look through the hole and jiggle it til you see the hole in the barrel link. You might have also to push in just a bit to get the barrel link up and down the way it was when you started.
Paper clips will work but they are a little soft. Call Kimber and tell them you bought a used gun and need a take down tool. They will send you one free. Just use a paper clip until it arrives. Kimber does use a .250 radius but you will still have to blend the tangs and the frame if you picked one with a higher cut than the Kimber one. I had a tiny piece of plastic break off of a chamber flag and get stuck between the barrel chamber and feed ramp which totally locked up the 1911. It didn't allow the barrel to drop and disengage the locking lugs. with an extreme amount of force the plastic finally crushed to where the barrel would unlock.
