There are complaints about some places being overcrowded in July ( Dubrovnik, for instance, or Plitvice lakes), other complain because of long queues for the ferries to islands, crowds at the airports, hot weather, mosquitos - people complain for all possible reasons. It was amazing. We had 38 people on the boat. Most were over the age of 60 but we did have a few younger couples who were late 30's, early 40's. We could not have been happier with the trip. I am an annual visitor to Hvar. Replete with charm. Take the walk up to the fortress. Lovely coastal walks in either direction of the town. Honestly, both options are well worthy of 2+ day. Whichever decision you make will be a good one.
