But it can't drive the extreme load variance of some speakers like newer amps can. If you tie a 4 ohm load to the 8 ohm tap it can't meet specs like the 352 and 501 can.

As the 402 already has the new design including fiber-optics, it will hold its price better in the long run than does the 352 - no unimportant point if later on the bug bites you again and you want to upgrade still further.
