We have had numerous inake heater relays fail on 3116/3126 engines. The C7 engines use a heavier relay. The earlier relays are to small to carry the 90+ amp load. On the 3116/3126 engines we have been using the Blue Bird relay that is used for the body heater/light functions. My grid heater light keeps coming on while I'm driving along with ten dings. It normally comes on while driving 65+ then will go away. Ok so I'm working on a MT45 Freightliner with a 6.7 cummins. Are there two intake air heaters or just one? I only see the one that sits in between the upper intake horn and the lower intake? The truck is throwing a Check engine code 70 (inlet air heater driver #1 fault> mode 13-out of calibration).A couple of things are happening, fuel is being pumped the engine is doing some computer checks and if the weather is cool, there is a powerful heater, heating up the intake so that the engine starts easily.
