If the cable is good, the next step would be check the speedomemter receiver in the rear wheel. If not properly seated when the wheel is reinstalled, this part will not allow the cable to spin. May work for awhile then stop.

You would have to remove it from the radiator, put it in some water, heat the water up, and measure with a volt-ohm meter or circuit tester to see if the switch closes when the temperature of the water gets to the right point.

I think the biggest issue is that most folks don't realize that the stator is only rated for 70 watts of additional load above stock.my 99 vulcan 800 B is having clutch problems. it has 18,600 miles on it and the clutch pack seems to stick. i either have to throttle my motor or wait a second on two after i pull the clutch lever for the clutch to release. it makes it hard to shift at times. is there a problem and is there a fix for this problem.
