Queasy doesn't always mean you're infected, but if you're infected you will always get queasy. If you get an injury from a zombie and get queasy within a couple of hours, you can basically guarantee that you're toast. That's awful luck, zombification from a laceration is a 25% chance and from a scratch it is 5 or 7.

The only time you would need to do it is if an infection stays on the wound for a particularly long time. Bandage it up before anything else, and then as soon as you're high health re-bandage or sterilize if you want, but you wouldn't likely need to replace bandage until quite a while after it gets dirty.
