I made the changes referred to above and my sling adapter has been working reliably since. Specifically, here's what I've done. 1. Configured my router to assign the same IP address to my Hopper every time the link went down. (I did both Hoppers in fact, but only the one with the sling adapter needed it.)

OTA is working when I shut it off the evening before and the next morning I have poor signal or none. Thought it was my signal/antenna. It was not. I found that resetting the hopper, i immediately regained full signal strength over all my OTA(75) channels. Dish certainly has it software bugs with the hopper and joey.
