While Tradovate platform has some good features it ends up being an unnecessary expense. Just sim costs you $12.99 a month plus $4 for data. Once you start live you have the skimmed down version of the platform for free but still pay $4 for data and your commissions are $5.58RT for eMini. They have their own platform but it's not very good and mostly provide data services for the Ninjatrader brokerage. So if you use Ninjatrader platform and open an account with them, your data is likely to come from CQG. Rithmic is also a market data provider.

Interactive brokers - you can find the lowest margin rates with them, but not recommended if you are a beginner in futures trading. Their desktop platform is very powerful and it is much simpler to develop custom indicators for compared to Tradovate. Plus I can access a lot more types of market internals charts (extra cost for market internals and very limited on Tradovate) as well as combine those charts with my futures charts.

Tradovate has god awful charting imo. Ninja Trader is expensive af, you pay $1k for the lifetime version and they only offer a demo of the leased version, so not even a demo of all the features. On top of that, it's got bad performance. I've had it crash multiple times during my demo and I have a good computer.It was a bit much at first, but it's a good platform to grow into.
